Every culture has its own rituals to bring in luck and prosperity home. Did you know that in Turkey, everybody wears red underpants to usher in the New Year? Or that, in Spain, a grape is eaten for each second of the countdown? How would you like to greet 2018 in your home? How about going yellow — at home and clothes — for luck and abundance?
It was all yellowYellow is the colour that's bound to rule 2018, as it will be the year of Ground Yellow (Brown) Dog that indicates strength and stability. Choose decor in shades of yellow - from gold to mustard. You could also use copper, brass and gold. Use yellow flowers and rugs.
The Dog year brings more abundance if you place a bowl of sweets in various nooks. For good luck, always have candy, pastries, cakes and desserts in the form of dog figurines or faces. Put a dog figure on the table.
Food for thoughtUse soft colour schemes in the space where you eat, so that you have good energies flowing. This also allows you to digest food easily. Place oval-shaped tables or oval mirrors in the dining area. The dining room is best done up in earthy colours of gold and terracotta. Avoid red colours here.
